Hi I'm a jewish American princess.... in therapy... and wondering if anyone here can help me... and I post it dovka here since I want it from teens perspective only!! I started for one main reason and that is sorted out... so do I cont. or not?? (I'm have another issue too.) When do I know okay it's enough and I should move on... and another thing how open should I be with my mentor?? im honest and all, but didn't share everything with her... do you think that is hindering my recovery??

So I'm no expert- but you did ask for a teenage opinion so here goes...

Firstly, be sooo grateful that you got that issue you came there sorted out. Such a blessing. Sometimes more issues can reveal their ugly heads, so why not sort them through. then you have the advantage of being an ADULT Jewish American Princess with a whole lot more clarity and direction than someone still grappling with childhood issues.

About being open... it seems like you've already developed a connection with your therapist, no? So the trust is there. That's a whole lot more than everyone else has starting therapy for the first time. Be open about the beneficial things for your situation; it's never gonna hurt.

How much of this do you agree with> At the end of the day you call the shots!!

Hey!! Good for you for going to therapy!

Personal opinion is yes, to both. Go for it!! If you are already there, and have the opportunity to go and get help, than do so... therapy only really helps for basically emotionally healthy people... if you can be healthier than you are, than take the chance....

Good luck

I have not much more to add than Hatzlacha!
I think therapy is helpful for anyone, and if you have more things besides the main problem it could help you with, and as you put it yourself "jewish american princess" you have a chance to get as much help as you need right now! You are so very lucky! I know so any people who can't get it because they aren't considered princesses.
If you like and trust your mentor, go ahead!!

Thanks all for the replies.... oh yes.. I came in regarding one issue.. but yeah some other ugly things revealed as a result... I don't know although my main reason for starting out is okay now... I'm still far from good.. but really I'm not all that interested in working through them yet.... problem is that I took this upon myself... no one forced me to.... and well by now that I revealed there is no turning back.... giving it up now is plain a commitment to failure I know that... yet on the other hand I feel so vulnerable there.... there is trust there is everything.. but somehow I don't feel all that comfortable sharing everything with her face to face.... I have no issues though poking myself out on the phone or in writing...just when it comes to talking its murderous... anyway this was some ramble.... ha be well all!

Why not discuss that with her? Or write what you would like to say instead of speaking it?

Yea... I'm often better at writing. Sometimes if there's a subject I'm hesitant to talk about (even with a friend..) I'd write it down and read it out loud, then all of a sudden the topic doesn't seem to scary to discuss anymore.

Make sense?

Hey Malki. just wanted to thank you for this brainy idea since I did it and really helped me... I was actually laughing while I was doing it how crazy it sounds talking to myself.. but the bottom line is.. that it was much easier for me to say what I had to...

Hey JAP

Wasn't such a brainy idea but I'm glad it worked for you... you got good results at the end?? You just gotta make sure nobody overhears you talking to yourself or you'll definitely get a few suspicious glances!
